Performing Arts is a huge industry in Northern Ireland: The Game of Thrones sensation has resulted in an expanding film industry, with many other productions, such as Derry Girls, Line of Duty and The Fall, creating a range of employment opportunities here. Through the study of Drama at GCSE level and Performing Arts to A-Level, pupils have a wide range of career opportunities: acting, producing, directing, script writing, stage management, sound and lighting technicians, make-up and costume design, set design, teaching, health and safety, budget and finance, management of events and performances, film, singing, musical theatre practitioners, Drama coach, vocal coach, Drama therapist, front of house roles and various administrative positions in theatre. In addition to the subject specific careers, this subject undoubtedly fosters a wide range of cross-curricular skills including confidence and pupils have gone on to pursue a wide range of careers including medicine, nursing and teaching.
